Early Life of Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy

Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, popularly known as Xxxtentacion, was born on January 23, 1998, in Plantation, Florida. His parents, Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy and Cleopatra Eretha Dreena Bernard, were of Jamaican descent. The young Jahseh was named after the Bob Marley song “So Jah Seh”, a testament to his family’s Rastafarian beliefs. His early life was marked by a significant health challenge – a ventricular septal defect, commonly referred to as a “hole in the heart”. This condition limited his growth, and he never grew taller than 5 feet 6 inches.

Due to his mother’s personal issues, Jahseh was primarily raised by his grandmother, Collette Jones, in Pompano Beach and Lauderhill, Florida. His childhood was punctuated by several traumatic incidents, including discovering his uncle’s body after a suicide and witnessing acts of violence and abuse. Despite these hardships, Jahseh developed a keen interest in music, spurred on by his aunt who encouraged him to join the school and church choir. This early exposure to music would later form the foundation of his career.

Family Life

Xxxtentacion had two half-siblings, an older sister named Ariana and a younger brother named Aiden. He shared a close relationship with fellow rapper Denzel Curry and producer Ronny J, with whom he lived in Florida. Before his untimely death, Xxxtentacion was in the process of moving into a mansion in Parkland, which he had purchased for US$1.4 million. At the time of his death, he was living with his girlfriend, Jenesis Sanchez, with whom he owned three cats and two dogs.
