Born Willie Junior Maxwell II on June 7, 1991, Fetty Wap, the rapper and songwriter from Paterson, New Jersey, has had a remarkable career despite some setbacks. As of April 2024, Fetty Wap is alive and continues to make music.

Early Life

Fetty Wap was born and raised in Paterson, New Jersey. He was born with glaucoma in both eyes, which led to the loss of his left eye despite medical intervention. He was then fitted with an ocular prosthesis. Fetty Wap attended Eastside High School but dropped out to pursue a career in music.

Family Life

Fetty Wap has a total of six children with five different women. His children are Aydin (born May 2011), Zaviera (born March 2015), Khari (born March 2016), Amani (born April 2016), Lauren (2017–2021), and Zy (born 2018). In 2018, model Alexis Skyy named Fetty Wap as the father of her daughter Alaiya, but he later confirmed that he was not her biological father. Nonetheless, he remains a father figure to Alaiya.

Fetty Wap appeared on the third season of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood, which documented his strained relationship with Masika Kalysha, and the ninth season of Love & Hip Hop: New York, which highlighted his complicated relationship with Alexis Skyy.

In September 2019, Fetty Wap married model Leandra K. Gonzalez, but the couple divorced in 2020.

Health

Although Fetty Wap has faced some health challenges, including the loss of his left eye due to glaucoma, he continues to lead an active life and pursue his music career.

Death

Fetty Wap has not passed away as of April 2024. However, he did experience a tragic loss when his daughter Lauren died in July 2021 at the age of four. TMZ reported that Lauren’s death certificate stated she had died of complications of a congenital heart arrhythmia, but her mother Turquoise Miami mentioned on Instagram that the cause of death had not yet been fully determined.

In September 2022, Fetty Wap’s most recent ex-partner Lezhae Zeona appeared on the Fresh and Fit podcast, only to be kicked out for disrespecting the hosts and getting upset when challenged about her new marriage.
