Born Scott Stewart Bakula on October 9, 1954, in St. Louis, Missouri, Scott is the son of Sally (née Zumwinkel) and Joseph Stewart Bakula, a lawyer. With Czech and Bohemian ancestry, the family name “Bakula” translates to “stick” (spelled bakuľa). Scott attended Jefferson College before transferring to the University of Kansas. However, he left college to pursue a national tour of “Godspell” that ultimately fell through. Scott eventually made the decision to pack up and move to New York to chase his acting dreams.

Family Life

Scott married Krista Neumann in 1981, and they had two children before divorcing in 1995. In 2009, after a 15-year relationship, Scott married actress Chelsea Field, and they share two children.
